Folding Ruler

A folding ruler, also referred to as a rule scale, inch scale, or measuring stick, is a tool used to measure distances and dimensions. It consists of a metal or plastic stick marked at regular intervals in inches or centimeters. Folding rulers are frequently used in architecture, construction, engineering, and drafting.

A folding ruler is made up of several segments connected by hinges or joints. Each segment has a fixed length, and the total length of the ruler is the sum of the lengths of all segments.

A folding ruler is a very precise tool, as it offers high resolution and can measure small dimensions accurately. However, it is also sensitive to damage and deformation, so it should be handled with care.

There are different types of folding rulers suited for various applications. Some are made of robust materials such as steel or aluminum and are suitable for on-site use at construction sites. Others are made from lighter materials like plastic and are better suited for office or school use.

Some folding rulers also come with special features such as built-in protractors or illuminated scales to enhance readability in low-light conditions.
